Description:
Under the direction of the shop supervisor, operate the CNC cutting machine with plasma torch and abrasive waterjet cutting head to accomplish a clearly defined set of programs.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Determine what materials are needed and stages material for upcoming jobs.
- Use forklift and overhead crane to load and unload trucks and cutting tables.
- Read prints, determines tolerances, and checks parts to ensure quality.
- Based on appearance and quality of parts make appropriate adjustments to the processes, such as travel speed, kerf compensation, torch height, consumable inspection and replacement.
- Startup and shutdown procedures.
- Transfer programs from server to PC on cutting machine.
- Modify programs to correct for cutting process and cut file selection.
- Work alongside shop supervisor to perform daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance on cutting machines.
- Use and understand measuring instruments, i.e. tape measure, level, protractor, and dial caliper.
- Maintain housekeeping in work areas.
- Responsible for safety issues, i.e. material handling, crane use, lifting weight limits, proper eye protection, lifting devices such as vacuums, plates clamps, horizontal lifters, etc.
Requirements:
- Prior experience operating CNC cutting machines is a plus.
- Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions and decimals.
- Must fully understand the x-y coordinate axis system.
- Must know how to accurately and quickly read a tape measure.
- Must be able to stand 100% of scheduled shift.
- Must be capable of bending, stooping, crawling and occasionally climbing. Lifting up to 50 lbs. is required.
- Must possess adequate stamina to sustain expected production effectively.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
